Applying: Step by Step for Undergraduate Students

International Undergraduate Student Application Deadlines:

  • Final Application deadline for Fall Semester is June 15. An admission file should be completed prior to this date.
  • Final Application deadline for Winter/Spring Semester is November 15.
  • Final Application deadline for Summer Session is April 1
  • An application, application fee, TOEFL or IELTS score, and official high school (secondary) transcripts should be submitted to World Education Services (WES) for credential evaluation on your behalf.
  • A standardized test score (ACT or SAT) is strongly suggested but not required.
  • Official determination of eligibility for admission is made by the Director of Admission.

Transfer Applicants who have earned post-secondary college credit: Official transcript(s) should be sent sent directly to WES [via link below] from each college or university attended. Also a list of courses in which you are currently enrolled.

Apply:  Step by Step

Students may apply for admission to Missouri University of Science & Technology upon completion of six semesters of high school-equivalent coursework or any time thereafter.  

  1. Complete an [ online application]. If an online application is not an option for you:

  2. Sign forms
  3. Submit forms, along with the non-refundable $35 application fee payable to Missouri University of Science & Technology
  4. Request transcripts be sent directly to World Education Services [WES] via the link below:

World Education Services

  1. Transcripts must show your most recent semester of completed coursework. Missouri S&T will request a final transcript upon completion of your final semester.
  2. Request ACT or SAT scores be sent directly to the Director of Admissions if available.
  3. Request TOEFL or IELTS scores be sent directly from the testing company to the Director of Admissions.
  4. Personal Statement (Optional): You may include a personal statement of 200 words or less, discussing a topic you wish the admissions committee to review. This statement may include your educational goals, discussion of personal circumstances, etc.

Special Instructions for Applying Online

The online application will take about 20 minutes to complete. You may save your application and go back to it later if you wish.

If a required field is left blank (required fields are marked with an *) you will receive an error message and the blank field will be highlighted. In order to minimize your chances errors please start filling out the application from the beginning and do not skip around.

If you apply through the web and get the message "(your name) thank you for applying.......", you have submitted the application correctly and it will be processed by our office. If you get an error message, please go back and correct the information and re-submit. You will need the following information ready to apply online:

  • Intended course of study
  • ACT/SAT scores (if available)
  • High school courses taken (if an incoming freshman or transfer with less than 24 college credit hours)
  • Any applicable college or university information (transfer students)
  • TOEFL or IELTS score

Transfer Form

Complete a Transfer Form if you are transferring to Missouri S&T from an American college/university.

TOEFL and IELTS Information for International Applicants

If you do not provide TOEFL or IELTS scores, you must either complete Missouri S&T's Intensive English Program (IEP) or pass Missouri S&T's IEP English Language Proficiency Exam. A minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper), 213 (computer), or 79 (IBT). Individual requirements may vary by department.  Students may also submit proof of completion of a US university Intensive English Program for consideration of fulfillment of English language proficiency requirement.

You should arrange to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and request that the testing agency send results directly to the Director of Admissions.

Financial Statement/Bank Certification Required for Issuance of I-20

These guidelines refer to statements from banks outside of the United States.

Financial Statements are not required for admission purposes, but are required for immigration documentation for an international student to receive an I-20 to apply for a visa. Please secure this verification and send it to the following address upon being notified of your acceptance to Missouri S&T, so that the International Affairs Office can issue you your I-20 in a timely manner: Any questions you may have regarding this communication may be directed to:

Please submit a bank/financial statement on the financial institution's stationery with the following:

  • Name on the account. (personal account)
  • Amount in the account. Acceptable wording of the financial statement is: [student's name, or mother or father] has a bank account balance of _________ [total amount]. For the amount needed refer to your program level below. 
  • The statement: "The student has the financial ability to pay all fees," does not fulfill the financial statement requirement.
  • Date. Financial statement must be dated within 12 months of its receipt by the International Affairs office.
  • Statement must be signed by a bank official.
  • Financial statement must be typed on official financial institution letterhead and include address and telephone number of the bank.

If someone other than you or your parents is supporting your education, please submit a signed, notarized affidavit from the individual supporting you that details the length of time and amount of funding of his/her support for your academic program. Please see the sample affidavit attached. Also include the relationship between the sponsor and yourself. (i.e., uncle, brother, family friend, etc.)

Financial amounts needed for an I-20 for a nine-month period:

  • Undergraduate Student  $28,177US
  • Intensive English Student  $18,273US

This amount includes educational fees, room and board, supplies, personal needs and health insurance. Health insurance is mandatory for all international students. Your acceptance to Missouri S&T is conditional upon your purchase of this mandatory insurance policy. An independent insurance carrier administers the policy selected by Missouri S&T.
