College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)

This program has been developed for students who may have gained knowledge outside the regular classroom. At Missouri S&T, subject examinations are used to award credit for specific coursework when the content of the examination is similar to the course offered. College-level examinations are given at CLEP centers at Missouri S&T and throughout the United States. Please check the table below for CLEP subject examinations accepted by Missouir S&T for college credit.

AP AND CLEP REGULATIONS

  • Any student having 90 semester hours or more of acceptable credit is NO eligible for CLEP or AP exams.
  • AP credit will be awarded for high school students only.
  • An examination may not be repeated in an attempt to earn credit.
  • If there is no Missouri S&T course equivalency for credit earned, elective credit will be applied as though transferred from another institution. This applies for the following tests: Art, Latin, Music, Computers & Data Processing, Human Growth & Development, and Literature (Analysis & Interpretation).
  • At the time of the exam, present a photo ID and two checks – one for $55 payable to CLEP and one for $20 payable to Missouri S&T.
  • A score of 57 is needed to receive credit for a CLEP exam.

* Engineering majors will receive credit for MATH 14 (4 credit hours). Non-engineering majors will receive credit for MATH 8 (5 credit hours).
