Advanced Placement (AP) Program

Sponsored by the College Entrance Examination Board, this program provides certain college-level courses and related advanced placement exams for students at participating high schools. Missouri S&T will recognize advanced credit for the tests listed below.

* Engineering majors will receive credit for MATH 14 (4 credit hours).
Non-engineering majors will receive credit for MATH 8 (5 credit hours).

** Engineering majors will receive credit for MATH 14 & 15 (4 credit hours each).
Non-engineering majors will receive credit for MATH 8 & 21 (5 credit hours each).

*** The History Department will waive History 175 and 176 requirements for majors who score 5 on the AP Exam.


AP AND CLEP REGULATIONS

  • Any student having less than 90 semester hours of acceptable credit is eligible for CLEP subject exams.
  • Missouri S&T awards credit for CLEP subject examinations but does not recognize CLEP general examinations.
  • CLEP subject examination scores must be in the 75th percentile or above to receive credit at Missouri S&T.
  • Advanced Placement examination scores must be 3, 4, or 5 to receive credit at Missouri S&T.
  • An examination may not be repeated in an attempt to earn credit.
  • If there is no Missouri S&T course equivalency for credit earned, credit will be applied as though transferred from another institution. This applies for the following tests: Art, Latin, Music, Computers and Data Processing, Human Growth and Development, Literature (Analysis and Interpretation), and Introduction to Marketing.
